About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Temple is seeking a full time Registered Nurse to join our amazing Level One Medical ICU Department. Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital is a 630-bed specialty care teaching hospital, Magnet Designated, and the only Level 1 Trauma Center between Dallas and Austin. This is a full-time position with 36 hours per week, working nights from 7 PM to 7 AM. The Medical ICU is a 23-bed unit where nurses care for patients with various acute and chronic illnesses, utilizing some of the latest technology. The department offers designated educator and leadership growth support, multiple multidisciplinary rounds to support patient care, a structured progression training plan and competency, and a unit and facility-specific career progression plan.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an Accredited RN Program.
  • Specialized field of study should be nursing.
  • RN license.
  • Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.
  • 1 Year of ICU RN experience required.
  • A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area.
  • Understanding of hospital procedures and rules.
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.
  • Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient care using a professional practice model.
  • Conduct patient assessments, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses.
  • Secure patient travel.
  • Understand patient needs in healthcare.
  • Help patients and prevent issues.
  • Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting plans to reach desired outcomes.
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, and stay professional in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members, empowering them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.
  • Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Work with colleagues and the community to create a care plan.
  • Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff.
  • Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, and commit to growth.
  • Contribute to peers' development and show commitment to community service.
