Highlights include: 31-bed Emergency Department 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio for acute patients Specially designed behavioral health safe rooms Care for patients across the lifespan with a wide range of medical emergencies Designated Chest Pain Center and Certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center Sovah Health – Danville is also an academic teaching site , supporting the education and professional growth of residents, medical students, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and physician assistants. Requirements

  • current VA RN license or compact state
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support required
  • Experience in acute care hospital, preferred
  • American Heart Association ACLS within 6 months.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association OR Emergency Nurse Association (ENPC) within 6 months.
  • Trauma Nurse Certification Course (TNCC) Emergency Nurse Association, preferred)

  • Bachelors degree preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
  • Evaluates patient and family learning needs and provides appropriate education based on age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.
  • Provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a registered nurse and/or physician.
  • Provides for personal care, comfort and assists with safe, clean environment, maintains equipment and supplies.
  • Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care activities.
