About The Position

Baptist Health Walker Hospital is seeking an ICU Registered Nurse for a full-time night-shift position consisting of three 12-hour shifts. The nurse provides advanced care to critically ill patients who need complex assessments, high-intensity interventions, and continuous monitoring. The role requires sound clinical judgment, the ability to respond quickly to changing conditions and emergencies, and skill in using specialized medical equipment and monitoring systems. The nurse assesses patient needs, plans and evaluates individualized care, advocates for patients and families, and collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. The position may also involve serving as a charge nurse, preceptor, or educator.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Meet all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for the Baptist Health unit or department.
• Maintain a current State of Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
• Maintain current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
• At least 1 year of RN experience in an acute care facility.

Nice To Haves

• 2 years or more of RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced nursing care to critically ill patients requiring complex assessments, high-intensity interventions, and continuous monitoring.
• Use clinical judgment and assessment data to anticipate, prioritize, and respond to changing patient conditions.
• Operate, monitor, and adjust specialized medical equipment and interpret monitoring-system data.
• Respond to emergencies using established nursing standards, protocols, and life-saving interventions.
• Assess patient needs, develop and revise individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes.
• Advocate for patients and families and provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams; may serve as charge nurse, preceptor, or educator.
• Document care accurately, delegate tasks appropriately, and ensure compliance with evidence-based practice and regulatory standards.
