About The Position

Under the general direction of the physician, the RN delivers care to patients through assessment, education, and planning, while maintaining standards of professional nursing utilizing evidence-based practice. The RN will effectively interact with patients and their significant others to promote health, maintenance, and management in collaboration with physicians and other staff throughout the Firelands Health organization and medical persons in care of the patient. Functions in the role of RN utilizing the nursing process. Applies nursing care as directed by physician and the clinic’s policy and procedure. Performs selected nursing duties, history and physical, vital signs, give injections and immunizations, assist physician(s) with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments and provide direct patient care as ordered. Educates the patient and caregiver(s) to encourage self-care as it relates to disease and medication management. Interpret medical testing and medication appropriately per our policy if applicable. Complete physical assessment and order labs when necessary and permitted by protocol. Documents all interventions, tests ordered and received, patient/family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed and related health information in the medical record. Collect and relay pertinent information to corresponding provider, drawing attention to any critical values. Assist in the development and expansion of clinic services. Recommendations and referrals of other Firelands resources such as mental health, cardiac/pulmonary rehab, sleep lab, and financial aid.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Ohio
  • Current nursing experience
  • Currently certified in BLS and maintain certification
  • Knowledgeable regarding the nursing process and its application, including the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care
  • Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period
