About The Position

UofL Health is seeking experienced and new graduate Registered Nurses (RNs) for its Progressive Care Units (PCUs) at Mary and Elizabeth Hospital in South Louisville. This full-service, 298-bed hospital, founded in 1874, offers a comprehensive range of services including vascular, orthopedic, cardiac, neurological, surgical, and emergency care. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital is also recognized for its bariatric surgery program. UofL Health is an academic health system dedicated to transforming community health through compassionate, innovative, and patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program (required)
  • Current KY RN licensure or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky (required)
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
  • All new RN graduates will participate in the Nurse Residency program and must successfully complete all activities (required)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program (preferred)
  • Two years of hospital patient care experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct systematic, continuous, and comprehensive assessments of patient health status.
  • Administer medications per licensure authority and assess their effects.
  • Plan care in collaboration with patient and family, incorporating scientific knowledge and patient safety goals.
  • Identify and prioritize patient problems based on assessment data and patient/family goals.
  • Implement nursing care interventions to meet patient and family healthcare needs.
  • Assess, conduct, and evaluate the outcomes of patient and family teaching.
  • Evaluate care by reviewing patient/family responses to interventions and revising the plan of care.
  • Serve as an advocate for the patient and family, respecting their rights and preferences.
  • Work collaboratively with unlicensed assistive healthcare providers, ensuring safe patient care delivery.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct and accountability.
  • Orient new team members and supervise students.
  • Maintain professional competency through continuing education and licensure.
  • Participate in evidence-based practice activities and discussions on care outcomes.
  • Actively participate as a collaborative member of the healthcare team.
  • Perform duties in a cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Comply with HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
