Mary Free Bed Sub-Acute Rehabilitation is a nationally recognized, 5-star short-term rehabilitation facility. Its Sub-Acute Rehab Unit provides patient-centered care and skilled nursing support to adults recovering from conditions such as orthopedic surgery, complex fractures, cardiac recovery, cancer, amputation, and multiple injuries. The unit helps patients regain independence and safely return home. Registered Nurses provide comprehensive nursing care, including patient assessments, care planning, medication administration, clinical oversight, and coordination of care. They monitor patient progress, collaborate with LPNs, therapists, providers, and other disciplines, and support safe discharge planning. RNs coordinate, direct, delegate, and provide care to multiple patients, using a patient- and family-centered approach. Patient and family education is an important part of rehabilitation nursing. RNs are responsible for delivering care within the scope of their license and applicable law, following departmental policies and service standards, supporting quality improvement and patient safety, and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, families, physicians, and colleagues. They may also assist with staff selection, orientation, precepting, and student clinical rotations as assigned. The role is full-time, working nights from 7:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., 40 hours per week, including every third weekend. The position is based at the Main Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on the Sub-Acute Rehab unit on the fifth floor.
