About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Burn Trauma/Vascular ICU. This is a temporary, full-time, 14-week assignment for the night shift. The unit is a 16-bed facility that handles immediate surgical recovery of Kidney and Pancreas Transplants, general surgical patients requiring ICU care, management of patients requiring mechanical ventilation, and management of patients requiring CRRT and hemo-dialysis. Vascular procedures include lower extremity revascularization, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Mesenteric Artery Repair, EVAR, TEVAR, lower extremity bypass, revascularization, Carotid Endarectomy and Carotid Stent, EKOS treatment for DVTs, and medical management of AAA’s and dissections. The patient population served includes adult medical and surgical patients requiring intensive nursing care, with an average length of stay of 2-3 days, though complex patients may stay longer than 30 days.

Requirements

  • Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required
  • Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • ACLS
  • NIH Stroke Scale
  • Two or more years of current acute care hospital RN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Management of patients requiring mechanical ventilation.
  • Management of patients requiring CRRT and hemo-dialysis.
  • Surgical recovery of Kidney and Pancreas Transplant.
  • Care for general surgical patients requiring ICU.
  • Care for vascular patients including lower extremity revascularization, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Mesenteric Artery Repair, EVAR, TEVAR, lower extremity bypass, revascularization, Carotid Endarectomy and Carotid Stent, EKOS- treatment for DVTs, Medical management of AAA’s and dissections.
