About The Position

This is a part-time Registered Nurse position in the Acute/Cardiac Unit, requiring 24 hours of work per week on a rotating 12-hour day shift. The role reports to the Director and involves providing bedside care to a diverse and acutely ill patient population with primary cardiac diagnoses and those requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care. The unit is staffed by a multidisciplinary team including RNs, CNAs, health unit coordinators, and monitor technicians, with support from clinical educators and advanced practice nurses.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred).
• Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).
• Superb interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities.
• Competency in electronic patient management systems.
• At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting, preferably cardiac.

Nice To Haves

• BSN or MSN preferred.
• If the BSN or MSN degree is not present on hire, the employee must sign an agreement to obtain one within a specific time frame.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
• Communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of patients.
• Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
• Administer medications to patients, provide education, and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
• Assess, monitor, report, and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
• Design, implement, and evaluate patient nursing care plans with the healthcare team.
• Educate patients and families throughout their stay and in preparation for discharge.
