About The Position
This travel assignment places you in a hospital-level Mother Baby unit with around 40 beds, actively delivering about 4,000 babies per year. This is a temporary assignment in a hospital-type setting with a Mother Baby unit. Note: No local candidates within 50 miles.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent, relevant Mother Baby experience in a high-volume unit
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- Experience in a Mother Baby unit (approximately 40 beds; about 4,000 deliveries per year)
- Ability to work 12-hour day shifts (7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.); schedule varies
- Must meet Northside holiday expectations: work 2 major holidays of the 3 (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day) and 1 minor holiday (the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or New Year’s Eve)
- No local candidates within 50 miles
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to mothers and newborns, including routine assessments, vital signs, and postpartum management
- Administer medications and monitor for adverse effects, documenting observations accurately
- Support breastfeeding, infant feeding, and lactation education; assist with newborn care and discharge planning
- Collaborate with obstetric and neonatal teams to coordinate care and ensure patient safety
- Assist with rooming-in, newborn assessments, and family education on newborn care and postpartum recovery
- Utilize evidence-based practices to promote patient comfort, safety, and positive birth outcomes
