About The Position

University of Washington Medical Center-Northwest's Cardiac Procedure Unit (CPU) has an outstanding opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN). The Heart Institute at UW Medical Center – Northwest provides a wide range of cardiac services, including early prevention, risk assessment and acute and chronic disease management. Our specialists are experienced in handling cardiovascular problems including hyperlipidemia, coronary and peripheral vascular disease, valvular and structural heart disease, hypertension, arrhythmias and heart failure. Services offered include ECGs, heart catheterization and interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, arrhythmia management, stress testing, echocardiography, anticoagulation services and cardiac rehabilitation. Advanced cardiology services are available at UW Medical Center – Montlake.

Requirements

  • Current license to practice as an RN in WA State by start date
  • At least 2 years of cardiology (telemetry skills), prep-recovery or interventional radiology nursing experience
  • Telemetry skills required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications

Nice To Haves

  • Sheath care skills strongly desired - training provided during onboarding

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to patients being admitted and recovered for procedures in the CARDIAC CATHETERIZATION, ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY and INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY Labs
  • IV start, pre-procedure assessment and preparation, post-procedure recovery, access site management, and pre-post patient/family teaching prior to discharge or transfer to the inpatient departments
  • Support cardioversions and transesophageal echocardiograms with Anesthesia and Cardiology providers
