About The Position

Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Adult Inpatient Mental Health (Adult IP MH) Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - West Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks) on the Day/Evening shift. The shift length is 8 hours and work an every other weekend rotation.

Requirements

  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • 1 year experience

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing a systematic process to assess the physical and mental health needs of the patient, which will provide a framework from which patient care is planned [knows disease processes, therapy, complications, expected outcomes for specific patient population(s)]
  • Contributing to the development of an individualized treatment plan in collaboration with the inter-disciplinary team providing a comprehensive plan of care.
  • Administering medications according to policy used for the management of behavioral patients with knowledge of actions, contraindications, side effects and desired outcomes.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of the nursing interventions in meeting the identified emotional, psychological, and physical needs, making revisions based on these outcomes.
  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
  • Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
  • Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
  • Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
  • Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)
