Appalachian Community Services provides Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Substance Use, and Developmental Disability services to individuals, families, and communities within the seven western counties of North Carolina. We provide a wide range of walk-in, psychiatric, substance abuse, and crisis services to adults and children. We are seeking Registered Nurse's to provide the following services: This is a PRN position Ability to work with individuals who experience symptoms of severe and persistent mental illness and substance abuse/dependence, including consumers with a co-occurring developmental disability. Considerable knowledge and skill in the application of theory, practices, principles, and techniques of the nursing profession; ability to understand, interpret and relate oral and written instructions; ability to explain medical instructions in consumer and their families/ some ability to organize and supervise the work of other professional and nonprofessional employees; considerable knowledge of the area of work and medications; ability to gain the confidence of patients and to work effectively with them. Assist consumers in gaining skills to address problems. Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team approach. Ability to set limits and maintain a helping role and to intervene appropriately to meet the needs of persons or families served.
