About The Position
The Meadows Psychiatric Center is a 119-bed inpatient behavioral health facility with numerous outpatient programs that span the entire continuum of care. The beautiful 52-acre rural campus is located minutes outside of State College in Central PA. The Meadows provides comprehensive care to children through geriatrics. This full-time Registered Nurse position involves providing professional nursing care for all patients on the Child, Adolescent, Stabilization, and Adult Units. The role includes prescribing, coordinating, and delegating nursing care, overseeing unit activities for each shift, completing nursing assessments, and documenting patient care and progress. The Nurse is also responsible for completing the Columbia Suicide Assessment, facilitating medication administration, responding to crisis/emergency events, attending Treatment Team meetings to aid in patient care plan development, and overseeing Mental Health Technicians and Licensed Practical Nurses.
Requirements
- Valid Pennsylvania Registered Nursing License or Temp Permit to Practice
- Genuine interest in Psychiatric Nursing

Responsibilities
- Provides professional nursing care for all patients on the Child, Adolescent, Stabilization and Adult Units.
- Prescribes, coordinates and delegates nursing care and oversees the unit activities for each shift.
- Completes nursing assessments and documents care and progress of the patient each shift.
- Completes the Columbia Suicide Assessment on all new admissions and on any patient that has a change in their suicide risk level.
- Facilitates medication administration activities in accordance with safe medication practices, including patient education.
- Responds to all crisis/emergency events to direct staff and ensure patient safety.
- Attends Treatment Team to aid in the development of patient care plans.
- Oversees Mental Health Technicians and Licensed Practical Nurses working on the unit.
