About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) works in Francis 3C-2B, a 44-bed general-care pediatrics unit at Mayo Eugenio Litta Children’s Hospital. The medical/surgical/oncology unit cares for infants, toddlers, school-aged children, and teens admitted for a wide range of needs, including trauma, acute and chronic illness, surgery, palliative care, and cytotoxic medication administration. The unit uses a family-centered approach; private patient rooms include parent sleep areas, and child life and age-specific activity spaces are available. Nursing staff may have the option to rotate to the Pediatric Infusion Therapy Center after developing relevant skills and experience. The RN coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care. In keeping with Mayo Clinic’s Nursing Professional Practice Model and the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, the RN plans, implements, evaluates, and communicates all phases of care for assigned patients. The RN provides leadership through precepting, formal or informal leadership, and quality-improvement efforts; delegates care according to staff skill and experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and available resources; and may participate in committees or projects. Some employees may need to drive a personal vehicle as part of their role. The position is eligible for TN sponsorship, subject to state licensure and VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
