About The Position

An OU Health Registered Nurse I works under general supervision to provide high-quality care to hospital patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. The role is described as suitable for a novice or advanced-beginner nurse progressing toward competency, initially relying on rules and gradually developing principles through experience. Requirements

Associate's or bachelor's degree in Nursing.
0–3 years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse.
Current Registered Nurse license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact Registered Nurse (eNLC) license.
Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association, required upon hire.
Knowledge of basic professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
Ability to maintain civility and good working relationships with other employees.
Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
Skill in computer applications designed to ensure patient quality and safety measures.
Ability to establish and maintain integrity and trust with patients by advocating in their best interest.
Ability to engage in and manage conflicts and disagreements constructively.
Ability to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory standards.
Ability to foster an inclusive workplace that values and maximizes diversity and individual differences.

Responsibilities

Align behavior with OU Health values and nursing professional practice standards.
Assume responsibility for an assigned patient or group of patients.
Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed treatments, including changes in physician orders.
Assist physicians with patient examinations, minor diagnostic procedures, and treatment.
Obtain and monitor physiological data, observe patient manifestations, and intervene when necessary.
Administer prescribed medication.
Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
Deliver patient care safely and competently.
Resolve patient complaints promptly according to policy and in collaboration with support staff.
Inform patients and families about hospital procedures and share care plans during care and at discharge.
Refer patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
Seek mentorship, remain open to coaching and feedback, and maintain professional certifications and licensure to develop nursing proficiency.
Develop a professional career plan and performance goals aligned with enterprise-wide metrics, and measure progress with department leadership.
Foster an inclusive workforce that values and maximizes individual differences.
Delegate tasks to clinical support staff as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
