About The Position
LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is looking for an experienced professional to join our team as a Registered Nurse in Jacksonville, FL. This position is responsible for traveling to hospitals to perform apheresis procedures. Nurses will only care for one patient at a time and will work alongside hospital nurses and physicians to complete procedures. Nurses will also spend time at the LifeSouth office to coordinate upcoming apheresis procedures and organize necessary documentation. Training for this position will be conducted during regular business hours. No previous apheresis experience is required. If hired, you will be given sufficient on-the-job training to learn the specialized skills this position requires.
Requirements
- Associates of Science/Nursing (ASN) or Bachelor's degree/Nursing (BSN)
- Active State of Florida Registered Nurse License
- Two years of experience as a nurse
- Must meet hospital credentialing requirements
- CPR certification
- Rotation of on-call nights, weekends and holidays are an expectation of the position; will earn on-call bonus
- Valid driver's license. Must also meet and maintain LifeSouth driver's eligibility requirements
- Must have consistent and reliable transportation
Nice To Haves
- Previous apheresis, dialysis or ICU experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and verify orders to perform therapeutic apheresis procedures
- Perform routine and complex therapeutic plasma exchanges, therapeutic phlebotomy, red cell exchanges, stem cell collections, white cell depletions, and platelet reductions according to standard operating procedures and physician’s directions
- Rotation of on-call nights, weekends and holidays are an expectation of the position; will earn on-call bonus
- Travel to other locations outside of Gainesville to perform procedures
- Maintain patient and center procedural records and billing
- Administer Hepatitis B and Flu vaccinations to LifeSouth employees
