About The Position

Longhorn Village is a not-for-profit retirement community that guarantees independent living for its residents, plus a full continuum of on-site care including assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation. They are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with a strong positive attitude toward customer service, a genuine interest in geriatric care, and the ability to motivate staff and residents while maintaining relationships. Requirements

Current State of Texas Registered Nurse license.
Ability to communicate in a courteous, friendly manner.
Ability to function independently.
Flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively.
Must maintain a valid driver's license.
Must maintain automobile insurance coverage.
Must have access to an automobile.
Must be able to push a minimum of 200 lbs.
Must be able to push such weight a minimum distance of 200 ft.

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care to residents in a 24-hour operation.
Delegate and supervise the care provided by nursing assistants.
Administer medications, perform treatments and procedures, obtain specimens as needed, and complete documentation as required.
Exercise independent judgment and discretion in assisting in the daily operation of the nursing department in accordance with current nursing and medical practices and procedures, and all applicable Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations to assure the highest degree of quality resident care is maintained at all times.
Provide daily supervision and leadership to assigned staff.
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living, family/social activities, and actively promote an independent lifestyle for residents.
Initiate the individual plan of care based on healthcare goals, physicians' orders, and nursing assessments.
Assist residents in and out of bed or wheelchair with proper transfer equipment.
Record vital signs, nourishment logs, and other patient records as necessary.
Ensure that the unit and resident room areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner for resident comfort and convenience.
Maintain work area and keep the department in compliance with OSHA safety standards.
Respond to all call lights promptly.
Assure the maximum quality of life for all residents by maintaining privacy, accommodating individual preferences, promoting independence, encouraging and assisting participation in facility activities and events, and communicating respectfully at all times.
Maintain continuous communication with Physician and team leader.
