The Registered Nurse will primarily work in the Surgical Care Pavilion (SCP) and will be cross-trained to the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This full-time position requires 40 hours per week, with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. There are no weekend, on-call, or holiday duties. The role involves engaging in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, collaborating with the care team, and upholding a culture of safety. The nurse will continuously evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes, administering medications and treatments safely, and demonstrating effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution. Professional development, required education, and maintaining certifications are essential. Ethical decision-making, respecting interdisciplinary roles, and contributing to integrated, unbiased patient care are also key. The role involves appropriate delegation to other nursing staff and maintaining accurate, timely EHR documentation. The nurse must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the patients served, understanding growth and development principles. The nurse may be required to float to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs.
