The Suffolk County Department of Health Services is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Bureau of Chest Diseases. The Bureau of Chest Diseases is charged with the prevention and control of tuberculosis (TB) in Suffolk County. The Bureau RNs are responsible for case investigation and management for persons with suspected or confirmed TB disease, including interviewing patients, communicating with patients and their families to encourage treatment adherence and address barriers to treatment, communicating with providers and hospitals to ensure appropriate patient management and facilitate smooth transitions of care, and conducting field contact investigations. The bureau RNs provide intensive case management to patients until their completion of TB treatment (at least 6-9 months of medication, administered via directly observed therapy).
