About The Position

This role involves providing direct patient care and support for imaging procedures. The Registered Nurse will review patient charts, communicate pertinent medical information to radiologists, assist with scheduling, perform procedures such as IV insertion and catheterization, monitor patient conditions, and conduct pre- and post-procedure calls. The position also requires adherence to professional standards, effective communication, basic computer skills, and a strong understanding of safety protocols within the healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates basic computer skills and knowledge consistent with the needs of their department.
  • Knows the limitations of their license/certifications and does not practice outside these limitations.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient charts for imaging procedures, reporting pertinent history, labs, allergies, and other medical values to the attending radiologist.
  • Assist with scheduling image-guided procedures.
  • Place IVs in any and all modalities.
  • Draw blood for laboratory tests.
  • Look up results on imaging procedure patients and report them to the attending radiologist.
  • Place urinary catheters when needed for imaging procedures.
  • Document baseline vitals prior to imaging procedures.
  • Monitor cardiac stress patients when necessary.
  • Monitor and document the condition of pre- and post-procedure patients.
  • Make confirmation calls to patients pre-procedure and follow-up calls to patients post-procedure.
  • Assist with transport and hand-off communication.
  • Adhere to dress code; maintain neat and clean appearance.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Be willing to receive constructive feedback to enhance self-improvement.
  • Complete work within designated time.
  • Attend and participate in hospital committees, as appropriate.
  • Wear required identification while on duty.
  • Do not avoid challenging tasks.
  • Assist in the training of students, co-workers, or other personnel.
  • Relay important information to other staff/shifts to maintain consistency in operations.
  • Understand how to utilize the grievance process to resolve concerns.
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills and knowledge consistent with the needs of their department.
  • Know the limitations of their license/certifications and do not practice outside these limitations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and department.
  • Be responsible for the safe handling of equipment as well as maintaining safety for themselves.
  • Know the proper procedure for calling codes and the proper response for each code according to department protocol (i.e. fire, lock down, infant abduction, bomb threat, etc.).
  • Know the proper procedure for reporting incidents involving the patient, visitor, or employee.
  • Know where to find MSDS information when needed.
  • Be aware of hazards and hazardous materials and how to maintain a safe environment.
