This is a PRN Position. The Registered Nurse will record patient’s current status, past medical history, vaccine status, vital statistics, and medication reconciliation in preparation for provider visit in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The nurse will respect the confidentiality of patient records and use complete discretion when discussing patient information in accordance with HIPAA. They will utilize all department forms and documents in EMRs appropriately, and collect, label, and transport all specimens appropriately. The role requires demonstrating proper techniques when preparing for procedures and knowledge of emergencies and routine equipment and procedures. Collaboration with patient care planning, including actively participating in education specific to patient diagnosis and needs, is essential. The nurse will assist providers with special tests and procedures, and demonstrate an ability to start IVs and monitor IV fluids for the correct rate. An ability to assess every patient for safety, medication dosage appropriateness, and other needs is required. The nurse will accurately administer medication and perform treatment in accordance with standards of care, and translate medications into pediatric doses using proper equipment for the patient’s size and age. The ability to identify victims and the process for reporting abuse is necessary. Maintaining compliance within the department and clinic, as well as within state and federal regulations and policies, is crucial. The nurse will utilize proper phone etiquette to record all phone interactions with patients in the EMR and properly care for instruments (cleaning, packaging, and sterilizing as appropriate). Participation in mandatory in-services and staff meetings, and following MRH policy and procedures are expected. Demonstrating knowledge of emergency preparedness and participating in drills is required. The nurse will act as a resource person to other staff members and as a positive and supportive team member to staff members and other departments within the organization. Participation in process improvement teams or interdepartmental efforts is encouraged. The nurse will act as a liaison between patients, families, providers, and staff, and complete workload as assigned. Floating to other clinical departments as assigned and performing other duties as assigned are also part of the role. Establishing and maintaining effective verbal and written communication, fostering positive working relationships with patients, staff, and vendors is key. Adherence to the MRH attire and dress code in accordance with organizational policies and procedures is required. Exhibiting initiative and self-motivation; maintaining a consistent level of productivity and managing time and responsibilities effectively are important. Completing all required annual education, training, in-services, and licensure/certification updates; actively participating in departmental and organizational meetings or reviews meeting minutes as required is necessary. Maintaining strict patient confidentiality at all times, reporting to work punctually and completing assigned duties within established timeframes are expected. Actively contributing to departmental and organization-wide performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, maintaining adherence to departmental, hospital, state, and federal standards and policies are crucial. Following all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients, the public, and staff is required.
