About The Position

Lexington Regional Health Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Elm Creek Clinic. This is a part-time, non-exempt position within the Family Medicine Specialists department, with an effective date of February 25, 2025. The Registered Nurse will report to the Clinic Administrator and will be responsible for organizing and conducting clinics, providing patient-centered care, and collaborating with providers and staff to ensure efficient clinic services. The role involves acting as a liaison for patients, promoting facility services, and maintaining professional integrity in accordance with the facility's mission and vision. The position requires maintaining harmonious relationships within the department, delegating appropriately, and ensuring patient and staff safety through various tools and protocols. The nurse will also participate in patient care activities that may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens and biohazardous waste, adhering to safe injection practices and infection control guidelines.

Requirements

Knowledge and understanding of nursing theory and practice, including pharmacological agents and the ability to administer all medications – oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous.
Knowledge of the growth and development of a variety of patients in order to meet the health care needs of the neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric patient.
Knowledge of reading, spelling, grammar, writing, math and computer operation as is typically acquired through the completion of a Registered Nurse Degree or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
Must hold a current active Registered Nurse license from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act.
Current Basic Life Support certification via American Heart Association required.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with regard to protected and sensitive information.
Ability to complete reports and correspondence at a professional level.
Ability to immediately respond to common inquiries and complaints from patients, employees, and regulatory agencies.
Ability to effectively communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Successful completion of required knowledge and training of standard precaution and transmission protocols and when to apply during principle duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Organizes, prepares and conducts clinics for providers, assisting the supervisor with clinic coordination and providing input on clinic logistics.
Communicates directly with the clinic nursing supervisor regarding care and process improvement.
Provides efficient, patient-centered care in the clinic setting, operating within the accepted scope of practice for a Registered Nurse.
Works with providers and staff to identify necessary medical equipment and supplies for efficient clinic services and communicates these needs to the supervisor.
Serves as a liaison and advocate for the patient, communicating between providers and referring or consulting providers when necessary.
Ensures patient questions and requests are sufficiently addressed, and communicates to the supervisor if patient or provider concerns or conflicts arise.
Works to promote the facility’s services to the region.
Represents the facility accurately, honestly, and with integrity, acting in the best interest of the facility while practicing by the mission and vision.
Maintains harmonious relationships within the department and among coworkers, providing support and assistance to ensure quality patient care.
Delegates through the appropriate scope of practice.
Communicates with providers regarding patient status, diagnostic test results, and changes in assessments.
Prepares patients for and assists with exams and treatments.
Supervises less skilled nursing healthcare personnel.
Follows all facility policies and procedures.
Maintains patient and staff safety through the use of patient safety tools (TeamSTEPPS, Just Culture, etc.).
Communicates with the multidisciplinary team to ensure patient-centered holistic care.
Participates in patient care activities that could include blood exposure and risk to bloodborne pathogens (e.g., lacerations, handling of blood-contaminated specimens, etc.).
Responsible for safe bagging and disposal of biohazardous waste.
Responsible for following safe-injection practices.
Responsible for ensuring the environment meets appropriate governing body standards.
Responsible for proper collection, storage, and labeling of biological specimens.
Ensures patients and visitors follow current infection control guidelines.
Regular attendance at the assigned work location is required.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
