About The Position

The Med Surg Telemetry Unit is a private, 18-bed unit specializing in the care of patients requiring telemetry monitoring. Nurses on this unit will develop and advance their skills in detecting medical or cardiovascular issues, communicating with providers, and discovering interventions to prevent emergent situations. Responsibilities include assessments, rhythm interpretations, lab value analyses, patient and family education, wound care, IV management, and medication administration and management. Advanced technology in the form of telemetry nursing support is utilized to help bedside staff treat patients with the highest level of care.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
