The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with health team members. This is a level IV NICU and a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center providing specialized care for a large service area. The unit has 51 private room beds and cares for nearly 500 babies each year, with a significant percentage requiring specialized care not available elsewhere. The NICU offers education in Cardiac, Respiratory, Surgical, Neurological, VLBW, and ECMO care, with opportunities for advancement and learning. The NICU follows the mission “The Child First and Always,” prioritizing the safety and healing of NICU babies. The culture fosters collaboration, clinical excellence, psychological safety, and teamwork, with a strong belief in caring for each other as much as for patients. The typical caregiver to patient ratio is 1:1 and 1:2 depending upon acuity. This role is for a highly engaged team providing excellent care for NICU babies.
