About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position on the Cardiac Medical Stepdown Unit (CMSU) at Memorial Regional Medical Center is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care. This unit is a small stepdown unit that cares for patients requiring close monitoring, including interventions such as BIPAP, titrating cardiac drips, and managing high acuity sepsis and surgical patients. It is described as a great place to start or continue a nursing career. The RN utilizes strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, acting as a liaison between Med-Surg and ICU units. They determine the priority of patient problems and needs, develop and perform patient care plans to improve outcomes, and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.

Requirements

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • 1 year of RN experience
  • BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care, ACLS required within 6 months of hire)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing
  • 6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred at hire)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
  • Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment, and evaluates treatment effectiveness
  • Serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments
  • Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department
  • Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and the organization’s policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
