About The Position

Coastal Hospice invites you to join a team of caregivers who are committed to promoting dignity and quality of life for patients and families who face life-limiting conditions. As a nightshift RN at our Coastal Hospice by the Lake inpatient facility, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating a plan of patient care utilizing ANA (American Nurses Association) Standards and the Nursing Process. You will utilize equipment and technology skillfully and be technically competent in nursing procedures. You will oversee and/or participate in safe medication handling and practices. You will educate patients and families on significant self-care and end of life issues, all hospice services, patient liability for payment and ensures consent and payer forms are completed. You will act as a patient advocate, providing support, information and direct care. You will triage phone calls to identify patient/family needs and notify Admission Services of referrals. You will oversee and delegate assignments of CMTs, LPNs, Hospice Aides, students and volunteers on shift. You will participate in weekend, holiday, on-call and/or evening/night rotations. You will maintain appropriate licenses and adhere to continuing education obligations. You will have the ability to cover different areas of hospice care to assure organizational needs are met. You will provide medical care to hospice patients in an inpatient setting, complete assessments, administer medications, and manage the plan of care for patients during their shift. You will coordinate discharge planning with family and medical provider.

Requirements

  • Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, Delaware or other compact state

Nice To Haves

  • BSN from an accredited college preferred
  • CHPN certification expected within two (2) years of employment
