About The Position

Provides safe, accurate, and efficient patient care, including patient assessment, review of labs and vital signs, medication safety, dose verification, and drug administration. Follows all Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) associated with the role. Provides triage care when necessary. Communicates patient condition effectively to multidisciplinary team members. Safely and accurately administers chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care, and non-oncologic agents to patients as ordered by providers, adhering to Oncology Nurse’s Society (ONS) standards and guidelines. Ensures accurate and safe disposal of biohazardous waste per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines. Responsible for new and ongoing patient education, continual patient assessment, and support. Requires thorough, accurate, and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) of treatment rendered to patients, ensuring appropriate charges are captured. Follows proper patient identification per JBI for all patient encounters. Educates patients and caregivers about medications, side effects, and the planned treatment course, interacting with patients and families in a caring, professional manner. Handles telephone triage, prioritizing incoming calls and messages from various sources, and responding appropriately. Assists with inventory and re-stocking of medical supplies, recommending new items as needed, and stocking supplies in storage areas promptly. Completes annual required safety and nursing trainings and attends all mandatory staff meetings. Maintains confidentiality of all patient and employee information. Assists in training new employees related to job duties according to JBIs. Expected to work at any Company location to meet business needs on an as-needed basis and may be expected to work overtime with sufficient notice. Performs other duties and projects as assigned and complies with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patient’s rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law. Adheres to Company and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Plan.

Requirements

Nursing Degree
Unencumbered RN License in state of employment or multi-state license
Current CPR and BLS certifications
Valid Driver’s License and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed
Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting
Ability to assess patient needs and condition is essential.
Strong critical thinking skills
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Fluency in the English language with excellent oral and written communication skills is required.
Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required.
EMR proficiency

Place stock in storage areas in a timely manner.
Complete annual required safety and nursing trainings.
Attend all mandatory staff meetings as necessary.
Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
Assist in training new employees related to job duties according to JBIs.
Work at any Company location to help meet the Company’s business needs on an as-needed basis, within reasonable expectations.
Work overtime when given sufficient notice.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
