About The Position

The Registered Nurse - Vascular assesses and monitors patients’ physical and psychosocial needs, educates patients and caregivers, assists with complex procedures and treatments, and administers and documents medications, including IV therapy. The nurse records patient information accurately and promptly in the EMR and provides clinical direction to LPNs and Medical Assistants. Other duties include responding to emergencies, checking the code cart weekly when applicable, and stocking supplies as needed.

Requirements

Associate degree required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
New York State RN license.
BLS certification.
ACLS certification required.
Critical care experience required.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Vascular or surgical experience is highly preferred.
IV certification preferred.
EMR experience is a strong plus.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Assess and monitor changes in patients’ physical and psychosocial needs using the nursing process.
Educate and counsel patients and/or caregivers and provide for follow-up.
Prepare patients for and assist with complex procedures and treatments.
Accurately administer and document medications, including IV therapy.
Enter patient charting into the EMR accurately and in a timely manner.
Provide clinical direction to LPNs and Medical Assistants.
Respond to emergencies as needed.
Check the code cart weekly, if applicable.
Stock supplies as needed.
Complete the competency skill checklist within the first three months.
