About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in the Cardiology department at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. The nurse provides patient assessment, care planning, and direct treatment using professional nursing processes in a patient- and family-centered manner, consistent with licensure and regulatory scope and standards and established hospital policies, procedures, and protocols. The role is scheduled for 37.5 hours per week, working 8-hour day shifts Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Floating to Radiology is expected when needed.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school program.
• Current, unrestricted New York State registered professional nursing license.
• BLS certification upon hire; if the certification is not from the American Heart Association, obtain AHA BLS within one week of hire.

Nice To Haves

• BSN from an accredited nursing school program.
• National certification.
• PALS and ACLS Rhythm Recognition certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments to identify patient and family needs.
• Develop and implement comprehensive plans of care involving patients and families.
• Perform and document direct patient- and family-centered care and patient education according to nursing standards of practice.
• Identify and respond to patient conditions to achieve positive patient outcomes.
• Perform discharge planning to ensure a safe and appropriate transition of care.
• Direct and delegate care provided by unlicensed team members.
• Provide world-class customer service to patients and families.
