About The Position

A registered nurse in the Operating Room renders highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients, providing direct and indirect patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse supports the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Methodist Health System. The position is at Methodist Richardson Medical Center, a 443-bed, full-service acute care hospital serving Richardson, Garland, Plano, and surrounding areas in Dallas and Collin counties.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Current license to practice nursing in Texas, or eligibility to obtain one.
• 12 months of RN work experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to general hospital standards and promote a cooperative work environment through communication, interpersonal relationships, and team building.
• Assume responsibility for the nursing components of the patient, family, and significant-other education process.
• Communicate with the team, coworkers, patients, and family members, and evaluate their understanding of information.
• Create and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, coworkers, and the facility.
• Ensure complete, accurate, and timely written communication of patient information.
• Provide a therapeutic environment through safe, accurate, and timely medication and IV administration.
• Take personal responsibility and initiative for performance and professional growth and development.
• Use the nursing process to ensure quality patient care throughout the episode of care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
