About The Position

The Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse coordinates and provides comprehensive care to patients before and after surgical procedures in a fast-paced outpatient setting. The position works under the supervision of the Director of Nursing.

Requirements

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Maintain aseptic technique in accordance with AORN/ASPAN standards.
• Adhere to Universal Precaution Standards and clinic policies and procedures.
• Arrive at work on time in professional attire and complete tasks within established time frames.
• Seek appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assist co-workers as needed.
• Demonstrate adaptability to expanded roles.
• An associate degree, bachelor's degree, or diploma in nursing.
• Current state nursing licensure.

Nice To Haves

• BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
• Previous Pre-Op/PACU experience.
• Strong proficiency in IV insertion, airway management, and rapid assessment of post-anesthetic patients.

Responsibilities

• Develop a plan of care based on patient health care data, the procedure to be performed, and expected patient outcomes.
• Assist the physician by preparing, monitoring, educating, or recovering the patient in OPS.
• Assist the anesthesiologist to ensure patient safety and quality of care.
• Maintain documentation of the nursing process for the care of the operative patient.
• Evaluate changes in procedures and update physician preference cards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
