About The Position

Olympia Orthopaedic Associates is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Pre-Operative and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at the Olympia Surgery Center. This role involves administering care to patients before and after surgery, monitoring vital signs, managing pain and other post-operative symptoms, and ensuring patient safety. The surgery center operates primarily Monday-Friday, with potential for occasional Saturdays, and the team rotates on-call duties, which may include overnight shifts. Requirements

  • IV Therapy experience (starting, discontinuing IVs, and administering medication).
  • Graduate of an accredited State Board of Nursing program.
  • Current Registered Nurse in the State of Washington required.
  • Ability to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) certifications within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Administering care to patients prior to surgery.
  • Administer pre-surgery medication under the guidance of the physician and or physician assistant.
  • Evaluate and access admission documents, identify emergency procedures, and adhere to necessary pre-operation policies and procedures.
  • Monitors (heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, and respiratory rate).
  • Treating symptoms of postoperative nausea and vomiting.
  • Managing post-operative pain.
  • Treating post-anesthetic shivering.
  • Monitoring surgical site(s) for excessive bleeding, discharge, swelling, hematoma, redness, etc.
