About The Position

Family Service League is seeking a per-diem Registered Nurse for the DASH (Diagnostic, Assessment, and Stabilization Hub) Crisis Center. The DASH Crisis Center is a 24 hour per day, 7 day per week outpatient crisis stabilization program that includes a 24-hour crisis hotline and mobile response team. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing health assessments, health education, diagnostic testing, and medication administration.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
  • Licensed and registered to practice nursing in the state of New York required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an acute care, psychiatric setting, including experience with co-occurring disorders and/or chemical dependency required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to problem solve, make clear decisions, and work as part of a team required.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Experience with an Electronic Health Records preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing intervention, medical assessment and support to individuals experiencing a behavioral health (MH or SUD) crisis.
  • Function as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Act as a team lead and be responsible for maintaining any inventory standards for meds.
  • Ensure the health and safety of staff and clients during emergencies.
  • Health monitoring and education/counseling.
  • Conduct urine toxicology screenings.
  • Administer and monitor oral medications and intramuscular injections.
  • Completion of all clinical documentation in an electronic medical record in accordance with NYS Office of Mental Health regulations.
  • Maintain infection control standards.
  • Attendance at routine supervision/team meeting.
  • Complete training and maintain proficiency in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Understand and demonstrate a commitment to Performance Quality (PQI).
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to achieve the goals of the organization.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Foster teamwork, work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and make decisions.
  • Assess situations to determine importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
