About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Health Medical Center is seeking a Full Time Registered Nurse to join our Ortho Trauma Progressive Care Unit (5 South). This is a 35-bed monitored nursing unit that provides the opportunity to work with a wide variety of patients ranging from adults to Geriatrics. The conditions that are within the scope of service include post ICU trauma patients, complex plastic reconstructive surgeries, complex ENT patients, traumatic complex fractures and musculoskeletal wounds, elective joint replacements, sports injuries, spinal deformities, complicated pelvic, hip, and compression fractures, skeletal malformations and abnormalities, amputations and prosthesis, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, General Surgery, and Medical/Surgical patients including those requiring Telemetry.

Requirements

  • Graduate of RN School of Nursing
  • ADN required
  • Active RN License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Require or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer
  • Grad of an Accredited Program
  • Specialized field of study should be nursing.
  • Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for patients ranging from adults to Geriatrics.
  • Care for post ICU trauma patients (serious traumatic injury to 2 or more body systems).
  • Care for patients undergoing complex plastic reconstructive surgeries (including reconstructive flaps and graft sites, post cancer reconstruction, and trauma related reconstruction).
  • Care for complex ENT patients including free muscle flaps and neck dissections.
  • Care for complex ENT reconstructive tracheostomies and laryngectomies.
  • Care for traumatic complex fractures and musculoskeletal wounds.
  • Care for patients in the Elective Joint Replacements – Rapid Recovery Program.
  • Care for patients with sports injuries.
  • Care for patients with spinal deformities.
  • Care for complicated pelvic, hip, and compression fractures.
  • Care for patients with skeletal malformations and abnormalities.
  • Care for patients with amputations and prosthesis.
  • Care for Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, and General Surgery patients.
  • Care for Medical/Surgical patients including those requiring Telemetry.
