Duties and Responsibilities Philosophy Supports the center’s ideology, mission, goals, and objectives Performs in accordance with the center’s policies and procedures Follows the center’s standards for ethical business conduct Conducts self as a positive role model and team member Recognizes patients’ rights and responsibilities and supports them in performance of job duties Participates in center committees, meetings, in-services, and activities Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner Uses center resources appropriately and avoids wasteful practices Analyzes work area and makes recommendations for potential cost-effective improvements Compliance program Contributes to the progress and development of the center’s adopted compliance program Performs according to established compliance policies and procedures Performance-improvement program Contributes to the progress and development of the center's adopted performance-improvement programs Objectively evaluates suggestions, grievances, and processes to identify opportunities to improve performance and quality of care Participates in data collection activities to support the performance-improvement program Safety/risk-management program Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities Reports observed or suspected safety violations, hazards, and policy and procedure noncompliance to the safety officer or other designated person Maintains professional competence by participating in continuing education and other learning experiences Shares knowledge gained in continuing education with staff Maintains membership in relevant professional organizations Seeks new learning experiences by accepting challenging opportunities and responsibilities Participates in teaching programs in the center for employees and physicians on topics of special interest/pertinent to outpatient surgery Assists with orientation and training of new personnel and acts as a resource person for problems related to patient care Welcomes suggestions and recommendations Participates as a team member in support of the total perioperative process Organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management Supervises and directs patient care in an endoscopy room Organizes nursing activities efficiently and effectively Delegates activities appropriate to the abilities of available staff members Assists with supply, drug, and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availability Addresses patient needs during admission to the endoscopy room, with attention to requirements specific to the outpatient setting Transports patients to the endoscopy room observing policies, procedures, and safety requirements, and according to patient needs Identifies the patient and correct procedure according to policy and procedure and communicates with all members of the surgical team Reviews patient’s medical record and needs to plan care with other healthcare team members Provides comfort and reassurance to patient Maintains patient’s privacy and dignity Explains procedures and care to the patient Prepares room according to requirements of patient and procedure to be performed Assembles and provides properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments before start of procedure Assists with the proper and safe positioning of the patient Administers medication per order of physician and based on condition of patient Monitors patient condition and maintains accurate documentation preprocedure, during procedure, and postprocedure Provides continuity of patient care by communicating with other perioperative care personnel and documenting records accordingly Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician Physical Duties Ability to sit/stand for a considerable amount of time; ability to walk and some moderate lifting Visual and auditory acuity for frequent use of computer, telephone, and occasional use of other office equipment Ability to perform occasional overhead and low reaching Physical strength required for equipment needs and patient-care activities Visual and auditory acuity for timely responsiveness and patient-care assessment activities Ability to move quickly in response to patient needs Constant and frequent judgment and response Occasional judgment and response to disasters or emergencies, actual events, or drills

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED certification
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  • RN with active license in appropriate state
  • BLS/ACLS certification
  • IV Certification
  • EKG Certification
  • Evidence of leadership qualities
  • Strong ethical and moral character references
  • Must be able to commit to assigned hours as per part time employee policy
  • Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Endoscopy experience preferred but not required
