About The Position

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with medical providers. The RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care and advocates for patients to support an exceptional patient experience. The role involves caring for cardiac and medical-surgical patients in the Progressive Care Unit at Lewis-Gale Medical Center.

Requirements

Registered Nurse (RN) qualification.
Obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or ACLS Instructor certification, within one year of employment start date.
Obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), or BCLS Instructor certification, within 30 days of employment start date.
Associate degree or bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

Assess patients at admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting changes in patient status.
Perform procedures and other functions as ordered by medical providers.
Document care in the patient medical record accurately, thoroughly, and promptly.
Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients’ responses.
Maintain knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in caring for cardiac and medical-surgical patients.
Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care in collaboration with medical providers.
Advocate for patients to support a high-quality patient experience.
