About The Position

Pomerene Hospital, a 25-bed rural critical access hospital in Millersburg, Ohio, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department, working night shifts on a part-time basis. As a community-focused healthcare facility, Pomerene Hospital is dedicated to providing quality medical services with a patient-centered approach. The hospital offers a range of services, including emergency care, surgical procedures, and specialized treatments, playing a vital role in enhancing community well-being. Pomerene Hospital is one of the largest employers in Holmes County and serves residents from neighboring counties. The Registered Nurse assigned to the Emergency Department will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe, timely, effective, quality, age-appropriate, culture-appropriate, cost-conscious, evidenced-based care while utilizing the nursing process and holistic patient care. The RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises patient care on an individualized basis, according to organizational policies and procedures. The role involves providing clinical leadership for patient care and may include assignments to other nursing units based on patient census and staffing needs.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in nursing
  • State of Ohio RN Licensure
  • BCLS Certification (May be obtained during orientation period)
  • NIMS Certification (May be obtained during orientation period)
  • NIHSS Certification (May be obtained during orientation period)
  • ACLS Certification (May be obtained during orientation period)

Nice To Haves

  • BSN
  • 2 years of previous nursing experience
  • PALS Certification (May be obtained within the first 6 months of employment)
  • TNCC Certification (May be obtained within first year of employment)

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise patient care on an individualized basis, according to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Provide clinical leadership for patient care.
  • May be assigned to work on other nursing units based on patient census and staffing needs.
  • Move throughout the facility as needed.
  • Appropriately assist in emergency drills and situations.
  • Demonstrate the physical, clinical, and professional capacity to provide direct patient care.
  • Coordinate patient care as assigned, which includes assessing and interpreting patient care information and data.
  • Provide appropriate patient and family education.
  • Work cooperatively with unit staff, physicians, and ancillary departments.
  • Adapt readily to a changing work environment and perform with frequent interruptions.
  • Maintain high standards for professional nursing practice.
  • Perform all tasks and duties according to hospital and department policy and procedure.

  • Actively support and encourage Primary Support Person (PSP) / Family involvement in patient's care, with consent of patient.
  • Include PSP / family members in discussion of nursing plan of care, medications, consultations with physicians and discharge instructions.
  • Encourage PSP / family member presence at the patient's bedside and participation in the patient's care.
