About The Position

As a Registered Nurse (RN) at Recovery Centers of America (RCA), you will play a vital role in our mission to guide patients toward lasting recovery from substance use disorders. RCA prioritizes personalized, evidence-based treatment. This part-time role involves conducting intake assessments, planning and providing nursing care, collaborating with a team to create a therapeutic environment, monitoring patients during detoxification, administering medications, and consulting with medical staff to design appropriate treatment plans. You will also prepare discharge paperwork and medications, and arrange further medical attention when necessary.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in the state of Massachusetts (or the ability to get licensed)
  • Availability to work rotating weekends, Saturday and Sunday.
  • Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification responds well to questions.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; thorough knowledge of facility proprietary systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in behavioral health or addiction is preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with CIWA/COWS assessments preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of health care, detoxification process, addiction, co-occurring disorders and DSM criteria and terminology preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients to gather case history.
  • Plan and provide nursing care for patients.
  • Collaborate with team members to create a therapeutic environment, utilizing verbal de-escalation and therapeutic communication.
  • Monitor patients utilizing CIWA/COWS assessments and measuring vital signs during their detoxification, providing medication as ordered and contacted medical providers when necessary.
  • Consult with medical and other behavioral healthcare staff in designing appropriate treatment plans for patients.
  • Prepare paperwork and medications for patients discharging next shift.
  • Administer and notes reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications.
  • Arrange further medical attention when necessary.
  • Follows organizational cybersecurity policies, including acceptable use, password management, and multi-factor authentication requirements.
  • Immediately reports suspected security incidents, unauthorized access, or data breaches in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of PHI and adheres to the principle of least privilege, accessing only the minimum necessary data required to perform job functions.
