Requirements

  • Graduate of one of the following approved professional nursing schools: Two-year Associates Degree Program; three-year Diploma Program; or four-year BSN Program.
  • Active and current registration/licensure in the state of Minnesota.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Trauma Training Course- Soonest Available Opportunity or within one year of Hire Date for ICU and Med/Surg Nurses.
  • Stroke Training Courses- Soonest Available opportunity or within one year of hire for any nurse caring for a Stroke Patient.
  • Internal Applicants-Must currently be scheduled a majority of shifts on Medical/Surgical/Pediatric and be proficient at Medical/Surgical/Pediatric skills. Will not be combined with other positions. Will be scheduled and must work a majority of shifts on Medical/Surgical/Pediatric.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing

Responsibilities

  • Accessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care plans to facilitate optimal patient care.
  • Supporting the mission, goals, policies and standards of the nursing department to ensure excellence in nursing practice.
  • Participating in professional growth and self-development activities to ensure accountability for own professional nursing practice, promote an environment that encourages individual growth and nurtures professional practice, and utilize experience and educational skills to assume an active role in orienting/teaching of staff.
  • Conforming with and providing nursing care according to the providers orders, in compliance with recognized nursing standards and State/Federal regulations.
  • Monitoring patient progress and identifying any changes in status, acting on changes to ensure patient comfort and safety.
  • Performing routine nursing care to assigned patients, while utilizing age-specific and universal precaution practices at all times.
  • Consulting and coordinating with providers and other healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
  • Administering medications and treatments.
  • Acting as a liaison between team and medical staff, nursing, etc.
  • Advising patients on health maintenance and preventative medicine.
  • Facilitating teaching experiences for staff and individuals.
  • Checking and maintaining nursing supplies inventory.
  • Cross-training to other departments in order to meet patients, hospital, and community needs.
  • Orienting and training to charge nurse.
  • Performing all other related duties as assigned in a professional and responsive manner.
  • Demonstrating the ability to use relevant equipment.
  • Supporting, understanding, and promoting Alomere Health’s mission, vision, values, policies and procedures.
  • Meeting the work schedule requirements with flexibility dependent upon the needs of the department.
  • Fostering respectful working relationships with professional colleagues, patients, families, and general public regardless of age, gender, lifestyle, culture, beliefs, race, socioeconomic class, or ability.
  • Completing required education timely and within the set deadlines.
  • When serving as a Charge Nurse, coordinating and directing unit operations so that patient/family needs are met and staff is efficiently utilized.
  • Assigning nursing personnel to patient care and other responsibilities consistent with patient needs and staff competence (as Charge Nurse).
  • Providing supervision of patient care provided by the LPN and/or Patient Care Assistants.
