About The Position

NiteLines USA, established in 1994, delivers contract support services to government institutions and medical treatment facilities nationwide. We are a dynamic and growing organization seeking dedicated professionals who embody integrity, respect, accountability, and collaboration. This role is at Northeast Florida State Hospital, a 24/7 state-owned psychiatric hospital with 613 beds, providing inpatient psychiatric care for adults 18 and older. Patients include those committed by the state or through the criminal justice system, including individuals found not guilty by reason of insanity or incompetent to proceed with criminal proceedings. The hospital serves adults whose needs cannot be met by community-based programs.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire.
  • Must hold unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • One year of acute care or two years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Must be CPR certified, or able to complete training.
  • Must be able to complete full orientation at time of hire.
  • Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of position including ability to lift and carry 20 lbs., remain alert while on duty, and work 16-hour shifts on occasion.

Responsibilities

  • Assess resident complaints and determine action, notifying supervisor when necessary.
  • Admit and transfer residents to and from other units or outside sources.
  • Administer oral and/or injectable medication and controlled medications in accordance with facility policy, and within their scope of practice as defined by Florida law.
  • Observe for side effects or adverse effects to medication and report to assigned supervisor, or further assessment and treatment.
  • Prepare paperwork as required for consults within facility and outside appointments.
  • Coordinate residents’ appointments with unit staff to ensure medications are appropriately timed as need for resident movement to and from the unit.
  • Provide emergency medical/psychiatric treatment within scope of practice as defined by facility and Florida law and notifying supervisor for further assistance.
  • Complete incident reports factually and objectively, within the appropriate time frame as defined by the facility.
