About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The staff RN uses the nursing process, technology, therapeutic interventions, evidence-based practice, and coordination with other health team members. The RN assesses patients' physical, social, and psychological status, including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills as appropriate, and evaluates information from patients, families, physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and support staff. The RN uses assessment findings and critical thinking to develop individualized plans of care collaboratively, involve patients and families in education and care planning, and prepare for further support needs after the current episode of care. The RN directs interdisciplinary care through appropriate delegation, coordination, and collaboration; provides or delegates care consistent with care plans, guidelines, and licensure; and prioritizes and organizes care delivery while managing time, supplies, and resources. The RN evaluates responses to interventions and clinical outcomes, reviews goals and patient and family satisfaction, and revises care plans as indicated. The role promotes the nursing profession and the development of others. It requires integration of legal and ethical standards, compliance with regulatory requirements, practice within the scope of licensure, and accurate, timely documentation.
