About The Position

The Senior Adult Unit (SAU) provides acute inpatient psych/med care for older adults. The average length of stay is 10 days. This is a voluntary, restraint-free unit which is licensed by DPH and is not considered a mental health unit licensed by DMH. The primary goal of the program is the stabilization of symptoms through interventions of: medical and psychiatric evaluation, pharmacologic assessment, patient and family education, physical rehabilitation, group and individual therapy, nutritional assessments, and supportive case management. The SAU is an ACE (Acute Care of the Elderly) program which aims to improve clinical outcomes by providing multidisciplinary care in a safe and comfortable environment. The SAU team is trained in the specialized care of the elderly. The unit serves as the hub of Beverly & Addison Gilbert's Hospitals (members of Beth Israel Lahey Health) NICHE Exemplar recognized program.

Requirements

  • Graduated of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license
  • BCLS required
