About The Position

The Registered Nurse will assist with the delivery of patient care during the respective clinic hours of operation. This role will report to the Clinic Administrator with clinical oversight from the Nurse Manager. The Registered Nurse will prepare patients for examination, take vital signs, and record medical history. They will provide direct nursing care, including lab services, and distribute medications and treatments. The role involves conducting patient follow-up visits and physical examinations, teaching and counseling patients on health assessment and care, and providing clinical training to Medical Assistant staff. The nurse will review and prepare charts, serve as a mentor, and collaborate with the Patient Support Center RN team. They will follow organizational clinical SDOs, policies, and procedures, including verbal reporting of notifiable conditions to Texas DSHS. The position requires prioritizing work tasks, maintaining accurate patient records, and communicating effectively with staff, patients, partners, and the community. Active engagement in quality improvement initiatives and participation in meetings are also expected. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent work experience required
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Texas required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must be obtained no later than two days after hire date
  • 2+ years’ experience in patient care in an outpatient setting required
  • Microsoft Office Skills with an ability to become familiar with company or position specific programs or software
  • Must have basic PC skills that include a combination of working in a Windows Operating System and Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality; able to maintain confidentiality under HIPAA standards
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy and tact; excellent customer services and interpersonal communication skills
  • Cultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to work with diverse people groups
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with LGBTQIA+ and/or other marginalized communities a strong plus
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Experience in HIV testing, HIV services, STI testing, and treatment clinic preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in working with diverse populations, including LGBTQ+ and other marginalized populations is a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, clear and concise progress notes, problem lists, and medication lists
  • Communicate appropriately and tactfully with staff, patients, partners, and community
  • Actively engage in a quality improvement culture and participate in identified quality improvement activities
  • Participate in staff, planning, in-service, and other meetings as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
