About The Position

Baptist Health Princeton Hospital is seeking a Full Time Registered Nurse for the Surgical ICU, working Nights. This role provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients, requiring complex assessments, high-intensity interventions, and continuous monitoring. The nurse will use clinical judgment to respond to rapidly changing patient conditions, operate specialized medical equipment, and respond to emergencies with life-saving interventions. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, developing care plans, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, coordinating care, documenting accurately, and ensuring compliance with standards. The role also emphasizes compassionate, age-appropriate care while maintaining legal awareness and patient rights.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health unit/department.
  • Maintains current State of Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • 1 year experience required unless approved by AVP level or above; New Graduate RNs may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas.

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients, including complex assessments, high-intensity interventions, and continuous monitoring.
  • Uses clinical judgment and assessment data to anticipate, prioritize, and respond quickly to rapidly changing patient conditions.
  • Operates and interprets specialized medical equipment and monitors, including cardiac, respiratory, and hemodynamic systems.
  • Responds to emergencies with evidence-based, life-saving interventions and preplanned protocols when physicians are unavailable.
  • Assesses patient needs, develops individualized care plans, evaluates outcomes, and advocates for patients and families.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, serves in leadership or educational roles, and supports unit and hospital goals.
  • Coordinates care, delegates appropriately, documents accurately, and ensures compliance with regulatory and evidence-based standards.
  • Demonstrates compassionate, age-appropriate care while maintaining legal awareness, patient rights, and a therapeutic environment.
