The RN is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. They support professional nursing practice across various settings and the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs. The RN operates within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which involves planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients, guided by the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice. The role includes leadership activities such as precepting, informal and formal leadership, and quality improvement efforts. The RN is responsible for delegating patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability. Excellent communication, mentoring, and teaching skills are essential. Participation in committees or projects may be required. Some employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as part of their role responsibilities. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a baccalaureate nursing program, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
  • For entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after: documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.
  • For entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date prior to April 1, 2020: documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at time of hire.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
  • Arizona - Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
  • Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
  • 1 year of nursing experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Inpatient Med/Surg experience preferred.

Responsibilities
