About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness. As a clinical nurse, this individual spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc. The unit specializes in post-operative surgical acute care, telemetry, complex patients with multiple co-morbidities, palliative care, colorectal surgeries with progressive ERAS protocols, and MDRO patients. The patient population is transferred from ICU, ED and PACU.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky
  • Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university
  • Those with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years
  • Basic Life Support certification (applicants have 30 days from hire date to provide completion if not already held)
  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment
