Requirements

  • Currently holds an unencunbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation & evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to designated area.
  • Collaborating with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care.
  • Documenting patient history, symptoms, medications and care provided in compliance with applicable standards/regulations.
  • Utilizing technology to enhance quality patient care.
  • Collaborating with physicians and inter-professional team members.
  • Effectively delegating to and supervising unlicensed personnel.
  • Assuming overall nursing accountability for a patient assignment.
  • Serving in leadership roles on department/organizational task forces and committees.
  • Demonstrating competency and practicing within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge.
  • Utilizing appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in the specific care area or unit.
  • Having effective communication skills to collaborate, negotiate and resolve conflicts, situations, and/or issues with peers, inter-professional colleagues, patients and families.
  • Having strong clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills to analyze data and appropriately respond to changing situations.
  • Functioning within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure.
