About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides treatment and care to surgical patients before, during, and after procedures as part of the surgical team. The role includes recording patient symptoms, administering medications, assisting with rehabilitation, educating patients and family members about medical conditions, and providing emotional support. The nurse collaborates with medical staff and other departments to coordinate care and uphold applicable care, compliance, and safety standards.

Requirements

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within one year of employment.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of related work experience in a surgical or operating room environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care during pre-surgical, operative, and recovery periods, collaborating with medical staff and other departments to coordinate care.
• Adhere to compliance standards, ASC philosophies, state board of nursing and nurse practice act standards, and other governing agency regulations.
• Provide emotional and psychological support to patients, friends, and families.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations and calling for assistance from healthcare support personnel.
• Follow infection-control protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations to protect patients and staff.
• Keep information confidential to maintain patient confidence and protect operations.
• Record patient symptoms, administer medications, assist with patient rehabilitation, and educate patients and family members about medical conditions.
