The Registered Nurse role involves supporting physicians and mid-level providers with clinical activities and direct patient care. A primary focus in the cardiology practice will be phone triage, requiring attention to detail and the ability to prioritize patient acuity. Other responsibilities may include assisting with appointment scheduling, nurse visits, and related activities to ensure optimal patient service. RNs also have an oversight responsibility for other clinical staff, such as LPNs and MAs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from accredited RN program
  • Current NYS licensure as a registered nurse

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of Cardiology diseases and treatment
  • Knowledge of medical insurance carriers and how to obtain prior authorization
  • Knowledge and ability to perform manual blood pressure checks

Responsibilities

  • Performs professional nursing care in accordance with NYS Nursing Practice Act
  • Carries out all assigned nursing procedures while maintaining a calm and profession demeanor during emergent situations
  • Provides patient education, as requested provider
  • Prepares patient record for visit, including but not limited to chart prep and nurse note documentation
  • Participates in scheduled team meetings to discuss clinical roles, processes and patient concerns
  • Works well with members of the team to achieve patient centered care as well as quality by implementing best practice standards
  • Focus on phone triage in the cardiology practice
  • Assist in appointment scheduling
  • Perform nurse visits and other related activities for optimal patient service
  • Provide oversight responsibility to other clinical staff (LPN and MA)
