The Charge Nurse supervises nursing care to residents according to physicians' orders, directs staff, and ensures the delivery of quality care on their shift. This role requires functioning within the scope of practice according to the State Board of Nursing, administering medications and treatments as prescribed, and accurately completing documentation of care given. The Charge Nurse also supervises, evaluates, and may suspend personnel according to HCF policy, refers to and follows the resident's care plan, and observes and reports any abnormal findings. This includes injuries, incidents, skin issues, complaints, suspected abuse/neglect/misappropriation, and any unsafe conditions, as well as any significant change in condition. The role oversees the operation and staffing for their shift and requires attendance at required in-service education. Adherence to appropriate Infection Control and Safety Practices is essential.
